Land and Sea in the “Big B”
Do you know how important the shrimping industry has been to our area? Let the crew of the Sailfish take you on the Biloxi Shrimping Trip. In just over an hour, learn everything you ever wanted to know about the life and times of being a shrimp, the operations of an actual shrimp net, and discover the vast variety of local sea life in the Mississippi Sound. Continue your day on the Biloxi Tour Train that has treated thousands of visitors for over forty years to a historical journey through one of the oldest towns in America. Begin the 90 minute narrated tour through Biloxi’s Historical District at the Biloxi Lighthouse and travel the neighborhood streets lined with 18th and 19th century architecture. Yes, “Katrina” did destroy many historical points of interest, but not all is lost! You can still experience the people, places and sites that make up the rich cultural heritage that is unique to Biloxi. We will then excite your imagination with the unique works of George Ohr, the “Mad Potter of Biloxi” at the Ohr O’Keefe Museum of Art. Ohr’s pottery has been labeled shocking, contradictory, and ahead of its time—its forms, colors predate the movements that would rattle the 20th century art world. Learn about the life and times of this eccentric potter and make a personal work of art to take home as a souvenir!
